Öztürk was detained last year by immigration agents in Massachusetts, with video of the Tufts University student’s arrest going viral. She was one of many international students targeted by the Trump administration for pro-Palestinian speech and activism during widespread protests, which were especially active on US college campuses, against Israel’s war in Gaza in response to the Hamas-led 7 October 2023 deadly attack on southern Israel. Pro-Palestinian Tufts University graduate targeted by Trump administration returns to Turkey

BOSTON, April 17 - A Tufts University graduate who was arrested by U.S. immigration agents last year as part of the targeting by President Donald Trump's administration of pro-Palestinian campus activists has returned to her home in Turkey following a settlement with the U.S. government.
